I placed a 10 week order for People Magazine on 2/19/14. I would not say the $56.94 that was charged to my account on May 1 was completely unauthorized. However, maybe a little sneaky and shady if not with clear, sharp edges. When I placed the 10 week order (2/19/14) I received the following information with the on-line order: "Automatic Renewal Program: You authorize the magazine(s) you've selected to charge your credit/debit card at the price above now ($10.00 for 10 weeks) and before the start of each new subscription term at the rate then in effect unless you tell them to stop. The charge for your first annual renewal is...$56.94 for your first 26-weekly-issue term for PEOPLE. You may cancel your subscription(s) at any time by calling the customer service number below and receive a full refund on all unserved issues. If the magazine(s) cannot charge your card for your renewal, you will be billed instead. I made a note of this in my email; however failed to put a note in my calendar, so on May 1 as stated I was charged the $56.94. It was my intention to cancel the subscription; and I still may, as per their terms I can get a refund on any issues that are not sent; but I ordered the magazine cause I like it; so I will keep this 26 week subscription and pay CLOSER attention as it ends.
