I did not authorize this charge and was not aware of a $127 something subscription renewal. Dampened a weekend away for me when I had this unexpected charge and a low balance alert. I could have at least received an email from the New Yorker telling me they were going to charge.

I received this charge on my credit card bill. I did not authorize it. Earlier I took advantage of a 12 week $12 deal for the New Yorker and did not agree to extend it. Please advise how I can follow up to get this charge reversed? I no longer want the magazine.

I did not authorize this charge - I let my subscription to New Yorker elapse because it was too much print - magazines went unread. I certainly would not have authorized a $89.99 charge.

Was charged 99.99 unauthorized as of 4/24. Called and was told it was be reversed immediately-waiting to see if my credit card is credited. Very irritating and unexpected-shady practice by The New Yorker when I have not requested a renewal!

noticed there was a $99.99 pending charge to my credit card today. Called 800.825.2510 (The New Yorker customer service number) and Erica told me that when I signed up for the promotional 12 issues online (to get the free tote bag which I never received) , I was automatically subscribed to the automatic renewal enrollment when the promotion ended. I told her that I wasn't interested in renewing and she said that she would refund the amount back to my card. I received a confirmation number and I will be looking for that credit on my statements. Erica was very pleasant and helpful. The call didn't take long at all (being on hold was actually longer than the conversation).

I was just charged by The New Yorker without my consent. I purchased a 6 month gift for a staff member a while back and now since they have my credit card details have just charged me for another year subscription. Nowhere was there an option to renew that I clicked on, nor was I contacted to get my consent.

I just got charged for 99.99. When I called to complain, I was told that this was part of an automatic renewal plan that I had agreed to. But I know that (1) I never subscribe to auto renewal of anything and (2) I know that I can always find a good rate on this magazine if I want more issues. Not $100 per year! The customer support rep processed my cancellation and said it resulted in a full credit. I'm planning to monitor my credit card closely to make sure that it posts. What a lousy way to run a business!

I received the CNP THE NEW YORKER 800-825-2510 CO unauthorized charge as well, with the explanation (when I called to inquire and have it reimbursed) of it being a 12 months subscription renewel. I did not receive any notice for a subscription renewal, not an email, phone call, or snail mail. Also, when I first subcribed I paid only $6.99 for 6 months. The unauthorized charge was for $99.99 for 12 months, which makes absolutely no sense when on their website it says, $12 for 12 months (whether it be a deal or not, it is still far from a $99.99 for 12 month subscription). I feel as though they are trying to steal money from any subcriber to fund their business and it is truly fraudulent!

I did not authorize this transaction, was given no notice that they would be making such a transaction (in the past, I received postcards asking if I wanted to renew) and even if I had authorized an auto renew, I would not have done so for such an absurd rate. I spoke with a woman named Tara at New Yorker customer service who said they can't cancel the transaction now because it's still pending, and to call back later once the money is officially removed to make sure they cancel it then since she said there's no guarantee it will be addressed once she puts the request through - ? She also refused to offer a better rate for the subscription despite me being a subscription customer for over 10 years. Not the level of class I would have come to expect from The New Yorker.
