I just printed my annual credit card statement and saw a $22.86 charge from CHKMATE *INSTANT CHECKMA billed every month --- dollar amount almost exactly matched my gym membership ....however gym was cancelled months ago so I looked into the charge. . Long story short, over a year ago I paid for a one time search transaction from Checkmate.... the fine print apparently says buyer must CALL THEM TO CANCEL AFTER THE FIRST MONTH or have a membership that would continue into infinity. Since the first transaction, I moved, email changed and more than 22 months later see that I have paid almost $500 for a service that Iordered as a one time service. They cancelled when I called however they wouldn't consider anything more than one month refund ...and that took plenty of arguing. THis is a scam service and as one of the above users pointed out, yoiu get more info just researching yourself. I was filing a small claims court claim and the Checkmate service did not provide the address I was looking for...but the free 'www.anywho.com' did. Buyer beware.

I have tried cancelling this account on four occasions and they just keep debiting my checking account. Horrible company

I have been charged 2/25 4/28 5/29 9/2 12/26 after many phone conversations since 2/25 now what????? never even used their service

I found 3 transactions totaling $69.00 that I never charged and was told by this fly by night company that there was nothing they could do to refund my money. When I told them I would report them to the bank, they said they would no longer negotiate with me to get the charges removed. When I said I had not yet reported them to the bank but would if they didn't refund the money, they said they would return half. I filed a dispute with the bank. They are definitely a fraudulent company and buyers should beware!

My card was debit $29.63 by them and did not authorized such transaction. I have fill a dispute action with my credit card company.

If you use checkmate instant make sure you read their fine print. Even though you are thinking that you are only using for a one time check (which is how they reel you in) in actuality you are not! The fine print says they will continue to bill your account monthly until you call them and verbally cancel! Beware!! If they really want you to know the bottom line they would not hide it in their (terms of agreement which is a whole separate click on). If they wanted you to know the bottom line they would spell it out in bold print on same page that you are submitting your credit card info..... ( Important! We will continue to bill your credit card $22.00 per month until you verbally call us to cancell). Chkmate Instant! If you value your client base then take my suggestion!

I did not authorize any charges to my credit card from CHKMATE*INSTANTCHECKMATE. Was charged $44.58 during the month of April 2014. Reference 7541823G106TZB2FZM. Please remove.

I did a one time payment for a service in Apr. just for a trial . and did not authorize these ongoing charges. you keeping charge for 5 month now i was for trial, what going on?

Was told it was a one time fee not a recurring fee I want my money back for the past 6 months I have contacted them every possible way for the past 6 months and can't seem to get w hold of them anywhere via email phone or fax...thank you

At stated in my first dispute with Instate Checkmate, I tried the Free Trial ONCE and found their service incredibly poor and their advertising misleading ! This was cancelled the first day in to the FREE trial, and they were advised immediatly to cancel the trial. This charge should have never come into play!

This was to be a 7 day FREE trial - I was told the $1.00 charge had been put thru just to verify credit card info and would be credited back. After using the service ONE time I found it to be substantially below par. I contacted them and advised them to cancel the remainder of the Free Trial, and
under no circumstances put their service thru as a subscription.
